For highway driving, Ford BlueCruise pairs the Level 2 advanced driving system (ADAS) with the adaptive cruise control system, equipped with lane-centering assistance. Working in tandem, these systems create a hands-free driving experience on over 100,000 miles of highway throughout the United States and Canada.
The Ford BlueCruise system reads road signs and adjusts your vehicle’s speed accordingly – and can even steer and stop your vehicle if you hit traffic or unfavorable road conditions.
Here’s how the BlueCruise software works: Using the BlueCruise map, your vehicle knows when it is traveling on one of the approved sections of divided highway. Blue lights on the digital instrument cluster appear when you are entering a hands-free Blue Zone. A driver-facing camera ensures you keep your eyes on the road for the duration of your drive, while using location data from the navigation system and map database.
