The rumors have been confirmed: The 2024 Ford Mustang, the seventh generation of this iconic model, will be the most power-packed yet. And an all-new addition to the line-up has drivers eagerly awaiting its reveal.
True to its name, the all-new Mustang Dark Horse will thunder ahead of the herd, with Ford’s most powerful naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 under the hood – according to recently released specs. While the rest of the line-up will receive a power boost as well, no non-Shelby Mustang can outpace the Dark Horse. While the 2024 Ford Mustang GT will strain at the reins with 486 horsepower, it falls just short of this all-new model’s astounding 500-horsepower performance.

First-Ever Mustang Dark Horse Delivers 500 Horsepower
The first new Mustang performance model in over two decades, the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse is built off the 5.0-liter Mustangs that came before. While improved steering capabilities, tires, and overall aerodynamics make this model superior to its predecessors, their hoofbeats still echo through the Dark Horse’s design.
Under the hood you’ll finda uniquely engineered fourth-generation Coyote V8 engine, boasting an incredible 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque. A Tremec six-speed manual transmission comes standard, with a 10-speed automatic option available.
The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will feature an upgraded crankshaft, new dual throttle bodies, a lighter strut tower brace, and forged piston connecting rods. All designed to increase performance at breakneck speeds, these updated features make for a memorable ride.
Mustang Dark Horse Design
Darkened headlights, a gloss black grille, front bumper “fangs,” and a fixed rear wing ensure the all-new Mustang Dark Horse stands out even when it’s standing still. There’s also a new Mustang logo, facing forward for the first time, with a more aggressive design to match the Dark Horse’s leave-it-all-on-the-track attitude. A darker version of the pony remains in front, but new badging adorns the fenders, trunk, and door sills.
The 2024 Mustang Dark Horse will be available in eight eye-catching colors, including these:
- Atlas Blue
- Carbonized Gray
- Dark Matter Gray
- Grabber Blue
- Oxford White
- Race Red
- Shadow Black
- Vapor Blue
A new Dark Horse-exclusive metallic paint color, Blue Ember, will be available with the appearance package – along with Shadow Black and Vapor Blue. In addition to a brighter Grabber Blue logo, the package also features deep Indigo Blue seats. To boost performance, ask about adding the handling package.
